Lisbon challenge

LC is an horizontal accelerator. They invest in all tech companies. In general, they avoid heavy capital investments like hardware and biotech. They run a 10 weeks program and it is a full-time program that requires at least 2 co-founders (one tech and one business) to attend the program. LC investment partners offer 70K for 7% of equity. The investment is done in two tranches: 15k for 2% to all startups joining the program, and 55k for 5% after the program for the startups that “rise up to the challenge”. Although your company can be global beforehand, in order to receive investments, you need to have your business incorporated in Portugal.

The reason they are funding € 15K at the start of the program is to push you to execute as fast as you can during 10 weeks to launch the product and gain initial market validation. If your start-up shows immense promise as a team and with the product you are building, you can get another investment of 55K at the end. Their intention is to have a long-term investor relation with the most promising startups, by funding 15K for Lisbon Challenge, 55K at the end of the program, and become a lead investor or co-investor in a seed round.
