Overview
Art.1 – Purpose and characteristics of the Call
Politecnico di Torino upon request from the Head of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, intends to select 10 students to take part in a university-industry training programme on partnership-related topics as part of the European ‘GreenChips-EDU’ project.
GreenChips-EDU is a European project dedicated to renewing training in the field of microelectronics, with a particular focus on the sustainability and energy efficiency of microchips. The programme develops new teaching materials, digital courses and joint training programmes between universities and industry. It also promotes student mobility and internship opportunities to train qualified professionals.
Among the planned initiatives are scholarships for students to participate in summer schools, training programmes and training events at the project’s partner universities and companies. This call for applications therefore forms part of this programme.
Moreover, the selected students will have the opportunity to undertake further training aimed at strengthening their technical, professional and soft skills, in accordance with the objectives of the “GreenChips-EDU” project.
Travel and accommodation expenses for students selected for the in-person training event will be covered by the “GreenChips-EDU” project.
The total budget for the initiative is €10.000,00 (including IRAP), to be covered by funds 51_INT23_CM - Prof. Mario Roberto Casu; CUP: E14C23000510002.
Art. 2 – Description of the programme
Participation in the in-person training events will take place at one of the participating foreign institutions in Austria and Croatia. Specifically, the host organisations are:
- Infineon company in Villach, Austria;
- Infineon company in Graz, Austria;
- Končar company in Zagreb, Croatia.
The group of selected students will be staying in the locations listed above and will visit the integrated circuit manufacturing facilities at Infineon in Villach, Infineon’s research and development laboratories in Graz, and Končar’s production facilities for power electronics circuits and systems in Zagreb.
Art. 3 – Period and duration
The visit to the organisations referred to in Art. 2 will take place from 5 October 2026 to 8 October 2026, for a continuous period of 4 days, excluding travel time.
Art. 4 – Eligibility criteria
The selection process is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:
1. have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from a European university;
2. at the time of application, must be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis for the 2025/2026 academic year on one of the following degree programmes:
- Master’s Degree Programme in Electronic Engineering (LM-29);
- Master’s Degree Programme in Nanotechnologies for ICT (LM-29).
Furthermore, the selected student must remain enrolled at the Politecnico di Torino until the conclusion of the GreenChips EDU project (e.g. they must not take interruption from studies, withdraw from studies or graduate), including during the reimbursement phase;
3. hold citizenship of a Member State of the European Union or of a country associated with the Digital Europe Programme, including the countries of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and other countries that have signed association agreements, such as Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
Art.5 - Ineligibility Criteria
The following students CANNOT apply to the present Call:
1. Those enrolled on a Master’s degree programme who hold a first-cycle degree from a non-European university;
2. Those currently studying at the Politecnico di Torino as part of an Incoming-Double Degree international exchange programme.
3. Those who have accepted a mobility destination in Italy (so-called Italian Erasmus) and/or abroad that overlaps, in whole or partially, with the same period as the initiative, including the virtual component;
Art. 6- Submission of applications
The application constitutes both a request for admission to the programme and for reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses as referred to in Articles 1 and 2.
Applications must be submitted no later than 23:59 on 30 June 2026 via the link https://forms.office.com/e/vYPP0e6EFP using your institutional login details. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the procedure has been completed correctly.
Submission of the application implies full acceptance of the contents of this call for applications.
Art. 7 – Determination of the ranking list and allocation
After the deadline for submission of applications, the Office will verify that applicants meet the requirements set out in Article 4 and that there are no causes for exclusion as set out in Article 5.
Applicants who do not meet the above requirements and/or who fall under one or more of the causes for exclusion will be excluded from the Call for Applications.
For each eligible candidate, a score will be calculated in accordance with the procedures set out in the Appendix ‘Score calculation’, which is an integral part of this Call for Applications. Only exams passed and recorded in the students’ transcript no later than 21 February 2026 will be taken into account.
Applications will be assessed by a committee composed of professors/researchers from the Politecnico di Torino, based on the score relating to the second-cycle career.
In the case of equal score, priority will be given to the student of the youngest age.

Art. 8 – Admission to the project
Students admitted to the project must confirm their participation in accordance with the procedures and deadlines that will be communicated at a later time by email.
Any vacancies that become available, including those arising from non-acceptance or voluntary withdrawal, may be filled in accordance with the ranking order of eligible candidates. Students affected by this reallocation will be contacted by Politecnico di Torino.
Art. 9 – Reimbursement of accommodation and travel expenses
Participating students will receive instructions on how to claim reimbursement for accommodation and travel expenses at the end of the programme via the University’s Missioni Online system.
Accommodation and travel expenses in Austria and Croatia will be reimbursed in accordance with the University’s Mission Regulations (Regolamento Missioni d’Ateneo): students will have to pay first, and they will then receive a reimbursement of the incurred costs.
Art.10 - Insurance coverage
Any student enrolled at Politecnico di Torino normally benefits from an accident and liability insurance which is extended throughout the period of mobility at the Host Institution.

Each applicant is required to make their own arrangements to:
- get adequate health insurance coverage during their mobility in the manner provided by the Host country;
- get adequate insurance coverage including:
- travel insurance (including damage or loss of luggage);
- serious illness (including permanent or temporary incapacity);
- repatriation for health reasons
- death (including repatriation of the corpse).
Please note that searching for and signing an appropriate insurance policy is the sole responsibility of the student without any responsibility of the University.
Art. 11 – General aspects of health and safety during the period of mobility abroad
Before departure, each participant is required to read and fully accept the content of the general training course on prevention and protection in the workplace, available on their personal page of the Teaching Portal, and to be aware of the general risks associated with the ‘destination country’ in accordance with the guidelines set out in the ‘Procedure for missions abroad’, accessible via the link http://www.sls.polito.it/faq_materiale/materiale/missione_all_estero. Finally, each participant must comply with all prevention, protection and safety measures provided by the Politecnico di Torino, as well as the specific safety measures adopted by the host organisation, which will be communicated on site.
