Bpifrance

Bpifrance provides financial solutions for companies that are booting up the listing on the stock exchange and credit equity. From 2019-2021, more than €559 million of funding have been allocated to 553 startups, and almost 90% of French deep tech startups has received innovation support from Bpifrance.

In 2019, France launched the Deeptech Plan to boost breakthrough innovations in France, whose results have been very promising in 2021, when French tech companies raised €11.6 billion in funds, which meant an increase of 15% in contrast to 2020. Deeptech startups raised €2.3bn in 2021 (+91% compared to 2020), including €375 million invested by Bpifrance, which has also invested €401 million in deep tech investment funds.

Bpifrance has raised a total of $949.6M across 9 funds, their latest being France Investissement Énergie Environnement (FIEE). This fund was announced on Nov 30, 2021 and raised a total of $100M.

Bpifrance also coaches entrepreneurs to help their businesses succeed. Indeed, entrepreneurship is akin to a competitive sport and they want to help them win. They finance innovators and accelerators for start ups, but also for small caps and mid-caps in order to help those who are impatient and want to grow as quickly as possible. The number of their accelerators is increasing. At the beginning of 2019, 25 SME accelerator programs were launched and the goal is to accelerate 4000 companies by 2021.
