Overview

Omega Funds’ main purpose is to invest in healthcare and thus in life sciences companies devoted to the development of transformational technologies and products aimed at fulfilling the needs in healthcare and biotechnology, so they put the focus on therapeutic areas such as oncology, immunology, rare diseases, and precision medicine, among others. They do not impose a series of requisites for companies to participate in the process but instead accept a wide range of options: early seed or late-stage public financing; large markets or rare diseases; established targets or novel technologies. The delivery of impactful medicines to patients is the first step of their investment process and they provide domain knowledge and perspective, network connectivity, and capital to the companies they invest in.

This firm started in 2004 and so far, it has raised $1 billion and has invested in more than 150 innovative life sciences companies that have brought 47 products to the market, many of which have meant a change in patient treatments. Within the companies they invested in, we find Alpine Immune Sciences, Lantos Technologies, Pieris Pharmaceuticals, Syros Pharmaceuticals.
