Almi Företagspartner AB is owned by the Swedish state and offers loans to startups as well as established companies.

Almi invests in companies with scalable business concepts and prospects for long-term capital growth. The focus of this business area is startups and Almi Invest manages €200 million in venture capital. Since the start, Almi Invest has invested in 700 startups. This part of the instrument’s role is to act as a bridge to private capital and contribute to a functioning venture capital market in the entire country.

About the investment process

The instrument is divided into eight regional venture capital companies focusing on various fields on investments. Besides, Almi Invest has a national GreenTech fund in a separate company with a focus on climate-friendly investments, reducing the CO2 emissions.

The investment process is divided into seven steps from evaluation of investment possibilities to growth-promoting and value-generating activities to an exit process where Almi Invest withdraws from their commitments and finally reinvestments into new companies.

Almi Invest boasts an extensive team of qualified people.The team is divided in different specialised groups, according to:

- Their role and insights: Leadership Group, Marketing & Communications, Exit & Portfolio Management, Business Control & Support.

- The regional fund they cover:  GreenTech Fund, South Fund, West Sweden Fund, Småland & the Islands Fund, Eastern Mid Sweden Fund, Stockholm Fund, Northern Mid Sweden Fund, Mid Sweden Fund and Partnerinvest North Fund.

Investment details

• Initial investments: Typically SEK 2-4 million (€180,000 to €360,000)

• Maximum investment per company: Up to SEK 10 million (€900,000)

• Investment range: €90,000 to €1 million per company

• Always syndicates with other investors, taking a maximum of 50% of an investment round

New Fund (2024-2029)

• Size: SEK 1.6 billion (€140 million),

• Purpose: To invest in approximately 300 companies over the next few years,

• Focus: Early-stage startups across Sweden.

Almi has invested in companies such as: 1TCompany, 2D Fab, Abarceo Pharma, Addbio, Adlede and Agricam.
